ENERGYAND BALANCE WITH TAI CHI
Anyone, regardless of age
or physical ability, can
practice Tai Chi. Older
adults find it especially ap-
pealing because the move-
ments are low impact and put `
minimal stress on muscles
and joints.
Although Tai Chi's best documented health
effect is its ability to improve balance, it can also
reduce stress, increase flexibility, improve strength
and increase energy.

The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) Exchanges and Medicare
Much media attention is being focused on the Affordable Care Act and the deadline for people to enroll
through the health insurance exchanges (also known as marketplaces). Medicare beneficiaries should know
the following:
• The health insurance exchanges are for people without health insurance, and
not for Medicare beneficiaries.
• Beneficiaries who have Medicare Part A and B meet the requirement for health insurance.
• Medicare supplement plans (Medigaps), are not sold in the health insurance exchanges.
• In most cases, it is illegal to sell health insurance exchange policies to Medicare beneficiaries.
• People with Medicare do not need to re -enroll or get new Medicare cards.
Trained SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Everyone ... on Medicare) volunteers can help you!
They offer free, confidential counseling on all aspects of health insurance to anyone on Medicare. To
schedule a SHINE appointment, call the Watertown Senior Center at 617-972-6490. For other SHINE re-
lated matters, call 1-800-AGE-INFO (1-800-243-4636), then press or say 3. Once you get the SHINE an-
swering machine, leave your name and number. A volunteer will call you back, as soon as possible.

CELEBRATING SPRING: Through a Wildlife
Photographer's Lens
A Photographic and Musical Presentation
by Carole Smith Berney, Watertown Wildlife Photographer
When: 9:30 a.m. Wednesday April 2
Where: Watertown Senior Center, 31 Marshall St.
Think color! Think flowers! Think spring! Birds and bees are active, buds are popping, and our world becomes green
again. Let's gather together to enjoy colorful images of this beautiful season.
Join wildlife photographer Carole Smith Berney for a celebration: of the greening of our world, the unfurling of buds
into leaves and flowers, birds raising their young, turtles laying eggs, and folks out along the river celebrating the
renewal of life. Witness up close how some communities celebrate the season with special ceremonies and colorful
puppet parades honoring Earth Day. Please register for this program by calling the Senior Center at 617-972-6490.
Carole Smith Berney has received numerous grants and awards related to her wildlife photography, nature writing for children,
and local advocacy efforts with the Friends of the Watertown Riverfront. Her multimedia shows about the river and exhibits focus-
ing on nature in general and animals in particular have earned her a local following, as the pied piper of the river walk.
This program is made possible by a grant from the Watertown Community Foundation.
