Home My Public Portal Aboutr 15-118�R olu ivu of toe �6orog4 of (ilartere#, N. �� No. 15 -118 Date of Adoption June 4, 2015 APPROVING CHANGE ORDER #1 MINUE STREET & INDUSTRIAL ROAD IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT WHEREAS, the Governing Body of the Borough of Carteret has previously awarded a contract to Lucas Brothers, Inc., in the amount of $535,766.07 for the Minue Street & Industrial Road hnprovements Project and WHEREAS, the Borough's Consulting Engineer for the project, T &M Associates, has advised the Governing Body that a modification of the contract is reasonable and necessary and has recommended that the aforesaid contract be modified in accordance with Change Order #1 (see attached); and WHEREAS, Change Order 41 adds an extension of milling and paving beyond the project limits on Minue Street and an extension of underdrain and base repair within the project limits on Industrial Road which adds nine (9) calendar days to the contract for the additional work ; and WHEREAS, the Borough's Consulting Engineer, T &M Associates has advised that the above described changes and/or modifications to the project were unforeseen at the time of the award of the original contract. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret as follows: L That Change Order #1 attached hereto and made a part hereof, is hereby approved. 2. That the appropriate Borough Officials are hereby authorized to execute Change Order #1, based upon the recommendation of the Borough Engineer and subject to attorney review of the maintenance bond. 3. A copy of this resolution and a fully executed copy of Change Order #1 to T &M Associates for distribution to Lucas Brothers, Inc. and the Borough Purchasing Department. The subject change order increases the originally awarded contract amount by $84,750 as shown on the change order, but 100% of these costs are covered by the existing NJDOT grants. We have signed the five original copies of the change order along with the contractor and are requesting governing body approval by resolution at the next council meeting.
