CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Williams called the meeting to order at 5:38 p.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Sherbondy Village, 215 Perviz Avenue, Opa-locka, Florida. 2. ROLL CALL: The following members of the City Commission were present: Commissioner Sherelean Bass, Commissioner Audrey Dominguez, Vice Mayor John H. Taylor Jr., and Mayor Veronica Williams. Commissioner Chris Davis arrived at 5:39 p.m. Also, in attendance were: Acting City Manager James B. Wright, City Attorney Burnadette Norris -Weeks and City Clerk Joanna Flores. 3. INVOCATION: The Invocation was delivered by Commissioner Bass. 4. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was recited in unison. 5. PUBLIC INPUT: (agenda items only) City Clerk Joanna Flores announced the protocol for public participation at City Commission meetings. Mayor Williams opened the floor for Public Input. There being no members of the public to address the Commission, Mayor Williams closed Public Input. 6. RESOLUTION: . A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 22-9955RELATING Special Commission Meeting Minutes — January 20, 2022 TO THE APPOINTMENT OF JAMES WRIGHT AS THE INTERIM CITY MANAGER; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Sponsored by Mayor Williams The above resolution was read by City Attorney Burnadette Norris -Weeks. It was moved by Vice Mayor Taylor, seconded by Commissioner Davis to discuss Agenda Item 6-1. Commissioner Davis asked City Attorney Norris -Weeks to state for the record why the Commission had to amend the resolution that they had approved, appointing the Interim City Manager. City Attorney Burnadette Norris -Weeks informed the Commission that the amendment to the resolution proposed by Agenda Item 6-1, clarifies the proper term for the title as "Acting City Manager". The City Attorney stated that on the night of the meeting, she did say that she believed there was another word for it, which is "Acting City Manager". Commissioner Davis said that he wasn't aware that the designation of "Deputy City Manager" was a position under the City Manager and recognized that the City's charter limits the Commission's power to name a "Deputy City Manager". There being no additional discussion, the resolution proposed in Agenda Item 6-1 passed by a 5-0 vote.
