Immediately Following the 7:30 a.m. “Brown Bagel” Work Session
Council members present
Ralph Bray, Carrie Carroll, Dave Griffith, Mike Harvey, Rich Koon, Bill Luebbert, Brian Pope,
Shawn Schulte, Bob Scrivner, Bob Weber.
Staff present
Nathan Nickolaus, Interim City Administrator, Janice McMillan, Director of Planning and
Protective Services, Melva Fast, Redevelopment and Grants Coordinator, Eric Barron, Senior
Planner, Drew Hilpert, Interim City Counselor.
Others present
Madeleine Leroux, News Tribune.
1. Call to Order.
The meeting convened at 8:05 a.m. Councilman Scrivner was elected Chairman.
2. Staff Presentation on Potential Annexation Areas.
Mr. Nickolaus presented information on areas adjoining the western City boundary that could be
considered for annexation. He advised that this was a preliminary study showing several areas
that the Council could consider for a future annexation effort. He advis ed the timeline for an
annexation effort required that staff and the Council begin now to put a program together for
voters’ consideration in August or November, 2012. The committee discussed the presentation,
suggesting more deliberation was necessary before decisions could be made.
