HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-03-2002 • THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, OCTOBER 3, 2002 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m.Thursday, October 3, 2002, in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided,with Bruce Metzger and Assistant City Attorney Steve Rabe in attendance. Robin Henry was absent. The following business was conducted: APPROVAL OF MINUTES Minutes of the September 18 and September 26, 2002 were approved on a motion by Metzger, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Metzger presented claims from the Finance Department for$154,100.40 and made a motion to accept, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. REQUESTS A. Police Chief Greg Pipes read a letter requesting the promotion of Probationary Officer Michael D. Black to the position of 1st Class Patrol Officer. Metzger moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Nicholson requested the demotion of Greg Knarzer, at Knarzers request, from driver/operator to Firefighter and the resignation of Pete McDaniel as Training Chief. Metzger moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the motion was . carried on a voice vote. BID OPENING A. The following bids were opened for the City Parking Garage storm sewer: Butler Excavating, $29,900 and Culy Construction and Excavating $39,632. These bids will be reviewed and awarded at a later date. BID AWARD A. Goodwin read a letter from Street Commissioner Gordon Moore requesting the bid for Leaf Vacuums be awarded to Brown Equipment for$33,020. Metzger moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Assistant Chief Nicholson requested the bid for HVAC for Fire Station#1 be awarded to Loman Metal Shop for$2,610. Metzger moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CONTRACT A. Assistant Chief Nicholson requested the board approve a contract for a state grant allowing distribution of counter-terrorism response safety equipment to the Richmond Fire Department. Metzger moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. Board of Works Minutes Cont'd.
