THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,JUNE 20, 2002
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 20,
2002, in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided with Bruce
Metzger and Assistant City Attorney Steve Rabe in attendance. Robin Henry was absent. The following
business was conducted:
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Metzger made a motion to approve the minutes of June 11, 2002 special meeting, second by Goodwin
and the motion was carried on a voice vote.
CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT
Metzger presented two sets of claims from the Finance Department in the amount of$372,141.13 and
$336,204.98 and moved for approval, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote.
REQUESTS
A. Battalion Chief Tim Brown read a letter from Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Nicholson,
requesting the approval of the hiring of two probationary firefighters, Robert Earle Leavitt
and John Sidney Lakes,with Leavitt being recognized as the senior hire, effective Friday
June 21, 2002. Metzger moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the motion was
carried on a voice vote.
AGREEMENT
A. Goodwin requested approval of the renewal of the City Vehicle Towing Contract with
Pardo's. Metzger moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on
a voice vote.
BID AWARD
A. Goodwin requested approval of an agreement with Verizon for two cell phones for the
Engineering Department. Metzger moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the
motion was carried on a voice vote.
B. Amy Spears Community Services Coordinator requested approval of a contract with
Summersault Design for a Website Design for the City of Richmond in the amount of
$11,250. Metzger moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on
a voice vote.
MEETING DATE FOR JULY 4TH
Goodwin asked for the board to change the meeting date to Wednesday July 3, 2002 since we will be
closed for the holiday. Goodwin so moved, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice
vote.

INTRODUCTION OF STUDENTS
Students were introduced from Richmond High School and Centerville High School.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed, and carried on a voice
vote, the meeting was adjourned.
