HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-04-2002 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, APRIL 4, 2002 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2002, in the Community Room in the Municipal Building.Vice Chairperson Robin Henry presided with Bruce Metzger and Assistant City Attorney Steve Rabe in attendance. Chairperson Bob Goodwin was absent The following business was conducted: APPROVAL OF MINUTES No minutes were approved. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Metzger presented two claims for payment from the Finance Department in the amount of$105,666.71 and $257,75_5.17 and moved for approval, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BID OPENINGS A. The following bids were opened for the partial roof replacement and exhaust system for the Street Department Garage: Blackmore and Bugner Roofing Inc. Indianapolis, base bid $39,940, Alternate #1 $35,690,Alternate#2, $37,890 and base bid#2, $38,965; Henry C. Smither Roofing, Indianapolis, base bid#1 $50,670, Alternate#1, $33,900, Alternate#2, $32,900 and base bid#2 $36,900;W. R. Kelso Co., Indianapolis, base bid $25,870, alternate#1 $19,840 alternate#2, $26,028 and base bid#2, $33,074; R.Adams, Inc., Indianapolis, base bid, $25,524, alternate#1, $19,778, alternate#2, $31,559 and base bid #2, $37,881; Enterprise Roofing and Sheet Metal Company, Dayton, Ohio, base bid#1, $43,048, alternate#1, $29,294, Alternate#2, $28,833 and base bid#2 $34,114. These bids will be reviewed and awarded at a later date. REQUEST A. City Engineer Bob Wiwi requested approval to relocate Bridge Avenue near the Richmond Baking Company which is planning to expand its facility. The road will be located north of the present site and as the street comes up from Sim Hodgin Parkway it will be straightened. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Wiwi requested the approval of landscaping and lighting for Main Street between 1st and 5th Streets. This would also include new sidewalks and curbs planting of trees and bushes and various other improvements. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CONTRACT A. Wiwi requested approval of a contract with U.S. Geological Survey for monitoring and analyzing water samples from the southeast Aquifer. The wells tested are on Hodgin Road and the southeast Richmond area. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BOW Minutes April 4, 2002 Page 2 SPECIAL MEETING Henry announced that City Attorney Bob Bever has requested a special meeting on Monday, April 8, 2002 at 4 p.m. in the City council Chambers to discuss Lot#12 at Mid West Industrial Park. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed, and carried on a voice vote, the meeting was adjourned.
