HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-21-2002 THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MARCH 21,2002 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m.Thursday, March 21, 2002, in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided with Robin Henry, Bruce Metzger and Assistant City Attorney Steve Rabe in attendance. The following business was conducted: APPROVAL OF MINUTES There were no minutes. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Henry presented claims for payment from the Finance Department in the amount of$250,855.70 and moved for approval, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. REQUESTS A. Fire Chief Mike Allen requested acceptance of probationary firefighters Timothy Lamar Parrott and Christopher Keith Chappel. The hire date is March 18, 2002 with Parrott being the most senior firefighter and Chappel the next in seniority. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Chief Allen requested the approval of the use of a fire truck to transport the Easter Bunny to Richmond High School Tiernan Center for the Spring Fling, sponsored by the Richmond Parks Department on Wednesday March 27, 2002. Metzger moved for approval, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. C. Goodwin read a letter from Marsha Wheeler of Earlham College Student Activities Office, requesting permission for a noise variance for a Latino Festival to be held on the lawn between Runyan Center and the Wellness Center on April 5, 2002 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BID AWARDS A. Goodwin read a letter from Major Randy Kolentus of the Richmond Police Department requesting approval of$1,550 to Mullen Seal and Stripe for sealing the asphalt at the police range. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Chief Allen requested approval of$100,795 to Life Star Rescue for an emergency medical vehicle. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. C. Assistant City Engineer Greg Stiens requested approval of$2.827 to Exhaustomatic, Inc. for an exhaust system modification at the Street Department garage. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BOW Minutes Cont'd March 21, 2001 Page 2 AGREEMENT A. Goodwin read a letter from City Engineer Bob Wiwi requesting approval of temporary services with Manpower of Richmond in the hiring of a computer aided designer. Rabe said he had reviewed the agreement and added an addendum which adds required discrimination language. Henry moved to approve the agreement and the addendum, • second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Goodwin said there was a hold over from the last meeting concerning the wireless phone agreement with the transit drivers. Rabe said he had checked with Roseview Transit and they did not feel that they would go beyond the time allotted in the contract and if they did there is money in the budget for that purpose. Metzger moved to approve the contract, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. INTRODUCTION OF STUDENTS Students from Richmond High School were introduced. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed, and carried on a voice vote, the meeting was adjourned.
