HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-21-2002 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FEBRUARY 21, 2002 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2002, in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided with Robin Henry, Bruce Metzger and Assistant City Attorney Steve Rabe in attendance. The following business was conducted: APPROVAL OF MINUTES There were no minutes. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Henry presented claims for payment from the Finance Department in the amount of$462,873.46 and moved for approval, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. REQUESTS A. Captain Don Ponder of the Traffic Division of the Richmond Police Department requested approval of five handicap parking signs for the following: Louise Williams, 315 South 10th Street;William R. Hughes, 203 South 14th Street; Lucille Henry,15 Northwest 16th Street; Marcena Henemyre, 117 North 14th Street, and Lance Rolf, 413 South 14thStreet. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Captain Ponder requested approval of a Moonlight Parade to be held on Saturday, June 8, 2002 by the Tarum Shrine Club. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. C. Police Chief Greg Pipes requested approval of the resignation of Major Joseph C. Klein effective February 27, 2002. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. D. Captain Ponder requested approval for John Burks to hold a four block walk on East Main Street on Saturday, March 2, 2002, in protest of the removal of the Ten Commandments from the Courthouse lawn. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. E. Goodwin requested the approval of a curb cut at 1324 Clearview Drive,with the condition that the drive they are putting in be paved. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. HEARING ON POLICE REQUEST TO DECLARE TWO DOGS VICIOUS/DANGEROUS Animal Control Officer Marilyn Juhasz reviewed the letter she read two weeks ago requesting that two dogs be declared dangerous/vicious because of the aggression they have been known to show toward people and the attack that they made on James McDougal of 47 Northwest"J"Street. Mr. McDougal said he was not hurt seriously, but they did knock him to the ground bruising his hip. The dogs belong to Kelly Barnett and Tammy Adams of 1107 Crosshall Street and they said that since the incident with Mr. McDougal they have chained the dogs in the yard. Henry moved to declare the dogs dangerous/vicious, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. The papers and audio tape of this hearing are on file in the City Clerk's office for review.
