THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, NOVEMBER 29,2001
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday,
November 29, 2001, in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin
presided with Robin Henry, Bruce Metzger and Assistant City Attorney Steve Rabe present. The
following business was conducted:
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes for November 21, 2001 were approved on a motion by Metzger, second by Henry and the
motion was carried on a voice vote.
CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT
Claims from the Finance Department were presented by Henry and moved for approval in the amount of
$148,412.25, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a vice vote.
REQUESTS
A. City Engineer Bob Wiwi requested approval for maintenance in the Earlham View
Subdivision, a cul-de-sac off of Southwest 1st Street. Metzger moved to approve,
second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote.
B. Police Chief Bill Shake requested approval of equipment donated to the Richmond Water
rescue team from Mrs. Lawrence Juerling. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger
and the motion was carried on a voice vote.
C. Tim Scales,Vice President of Marketing at First Bank, presented a $500.00 donation to the
Richmond Police Department and $800.00 to the Richmond Fire Department. Henry moved
to accept, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote.
AGREEMENT
A. Wiwi requested approval of Contract#121-2001 between the City of Richmond and Earth
Exploration in the amount of$18,600. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the
motion was carried on a voice vote.
BID OPENINGS
A. One bid was received for computer network hardware upgrade from Programming and
Micros, New Paris, Ohio in the amount of$12,222.53. It will be taken under advisement and
awarded at a later date.
B. The following bids were opened for tree removal; Venable Tree Service, $16,120 with
additional trees in the amount of$3,770; Fitzwater Tree and Lawn Service, $12,921 with
additional trees for$3,009 and Ditty Construction who bid separately on each tree. These
bids will be taken under advisement and awarded at a later date.

CARPENTER BUILDING
A. City Attorney Bob Bever requested 45 more days to complete the environmental clean-
up on the Carpenter Building, which would extend the date through January 17, 2002.
Henry moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice
vote. Metzger abstained.
INTRODUCTION OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Several students from Gary Weir's government class introduced themselves and President Goodwin
asked if they had any questions, the board would be happy to answer them.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed, and carried on a voice
vote, the meeting was adjourned.
