HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-11-2001 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, OCTOBER 11, 2001 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday, October 11,2001, in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided with Bruce Metzger present. Robin Henry and Assistant City Attorney Steve Rabe were absent. The following business was conducted: APPROVAL OF MINUTES There were no minutes CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Goodwin presented claims from the Finance Department in the amount of$301,685.55 and $121,770.88 and moved for approval, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. REQUESTS A. Fire Chief Mike Allen requested approval for the closing of Industries Road on November 14, 15, and 16, 2001 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to conduct a driver evaluation. Metzger moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Police Chief Bill Shake requested approval to accept the retirement of Officer Wayne Loudy effective October 17, 2001. Metzger moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BID AWARD A. Chief Allen requested that the board approve Paul Bisker Contracting in the amount of $1,680 for door replacement and repairs at Stations#2 and #4. Metzger moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote B. Goodwin read a letter from Wayne Jackson concerning the demolition of eight buildings. Jackson said that of the seven properties slated for demolition, two of the owners have stepped forward and begun removing the structures themselves and two more have new owners who have requested additional time to repair the properties. The remaining three properties were awarded as follows: 321 South 11th Street, Butler Excavating for$4,700; 224 South 19th Street, Ditty Construction for$3,500 and 623 North 13th Street, Delucio & Son for$5,800. The restroom/concession at the Glen Miller Park will be awarded at a later date. Metzger moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BID OPENING A. No bids were received for tree removal. BOW Minutes Cont'd October 11, 2001 Page 2 VISITING STUDENT Goodwin introduced a government student from Centerville High School. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed, and carried on a voice vote, the meeting was adjourned.
