RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT
WITH THE COUNTY OF MIDDLESEX TO INSTALL LIGHT EMITTING
DIODES AT CERTAIN TRAFFIC SIGNS
WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey has recently approved the use of Light
Emitting Diodes ("LED") in traffic signals; and
WHEREAS, LEDs have a longer life and consume up to 85% less energy than the
current incandescent bulbs; and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret (the "Borough") bears the electrical cost of
the traffic control devises and therefore stands to derive a cost savings; and
WHEREAS, the County of Middlesex (the "County") has agreed to bear the
engineering and construction costs in connection with the installation of LEDs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret that the Mayor and Municipal Clerk are hereby authorized to
execute the agreement with the County of Middlesex for the installation of Light
Emitting Diodes in certain traffic control devices within the Borough.

and certified as a true copy of the original
