Preparing the rice: Pour the boiling water over the rice and simmer over a low heat until nearly cooked. Keep in mind that the rice will keep cooking whilst the pumpkin bakes. Preparing the pumpkin: Cut out a round -shaped lid off the top part of the pumpkin. Scoop out the seeds and the fibrous parts of the pumpkin cavity. Use a spoon to scrape some of the flesh off the pumpkin if the cavity is small and the walls of the pumpkin are too thick. Coat/ massage the walls of the cavity with some butter and honey. Set the pumpkin aside. Preparing the fruit mixture: In a frying pan saute the fruit, nuts and spices with the coconut oil and butter. Add the diluted honey and heat for a further minute. Cover the pan with a lid to keep warm. Stuffing the pumpkin: Preheat oven to 170 degrees. Spoon one layer of rice into the pumpkin and add a lay- er of the fruit -and -nut mixture. Repeat until both are used up. Warm the additional honey in the microwave for 25 seconds and dilute it with a quarter cup of boiled water. Pour the diluted honey into the pumpkin over the rice mixture. Insert the cinnamon quill into the cen- ter of the pumpkin. Place the "lid" back on the pumpkin. Place the pumpkin on an oven -proof tray that is bigger than the pumpkin to make it easier to plate whilst hot. Bake in the oven at 170 degrees for about 1 hour and 30 minutes or until cooked through. Test doneness by in- serting skewer vertically near the lid of the pumpkin so that the liquid doesn't leak out. Before serving, allow pumpkin to cool to a manageable temperature. You will get the best flavor and texture if you leave it in the oven to cool slowly for 5-6 hours. - Aghandz is made with perled wheat and un-hulled hemp seeds. The hemp seeds are a super food availa- ble in health food stores. Aghandz is a winter staple and it's served on Christmas, New Year and at Trndez (a religious festivity) 1 cup of pearled wheat 1-2 TBSP of salt 0.5 cup of unhulled hemp seeds. 1 cup of water Fuel Assistance Program You may qualify for payments towards winter heating bills, discounts on monthly utility bills, a no -cost home en- ergy assessment, free appliance re- placement, and other energy -saving improvements for your home, all at no cost to you. LIHEAP, also known as Fuel Assistance, helps eligible households challenged by the high cost of home heating fuel pay a portion of their winter heating bills. Homeowners and renters, including households whose cost of heat is included in the rent, can apply for LIHEAP. Households must apply each year; appli- cations are mailed to households after the first year. Fuel assistance payments for actual usage or fuel de- livery are made directly to the heating vendor for pri- mary energy needs from November 1st 2020 to APRIL 30TH 2O21 (except when cost of heating is included in the rent). FAMILY SIZE MAXIMUM ANNUAL GROSS INCOME 1 $39,105 2 $51,137 3 $63,169 4 $75,201 5 $87,233 6 $99,265 Please contact our Case Worker Jenya Kruglyansky for assistance at (617) 972-6490. Soak the hemp in 1 cup of water adding 0.5 TBSP of salt. Leave in water for 2 hours. I suggest washing the pearled barley and spread on a towel to dry. Heat the nonstick pan adding the dried pearled barley. Mix continuously with a wooden spoon until it is gold- en color. Put immediately in a wooden or heat re- sistant plate and cover with a towel to let it cool down slowly. Strain the hemp and start toasting it in the nonstick hot pan mixing it with a wooden spoon. The hemp is ready when it starts to pop like a pop- corn. Take off the heat and add to the plate with pearled barley. Mix it together and cover with a towel to cool down. You can serve aghandz as is or mix with dried fruits and nuts.
