HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-19-2001 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JULY 19, 2001 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2001, in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided with Bruce Metzger, Robin Henry, and Assistant City Attorney Steve Rabe present. The following business was conducted: APPROVAL OF MINUTES Henry moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Henry presented claims submitted by the Finance Department in the amount of $219,629.20 and $154,647.23 and moved for approval, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. REQUESTS A. Lt. Paul Phillips read a letter from Police Chief Bill Shake asking for approval of the retirement of Robert Nickoli effective July 23, 2001. Henry moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Main Street Richmond-Wayne County is requesting the closures of several streets and parking lots, for a NASCAR Brickyard Tailgate Party on Tuesday, July 31, 2001 from noon until 10:00 p.m. Captain Ponder of the Traffic Division of the Police Department checked the sites and recommended approval. Henry so moved, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. - C. Lt. Phillips requested a street closure on South "J" from South 23rd to South 24th Street on July 29, 2001 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for a block party. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. D. Goodwin read a request for a curb cut at 236 Randolph Street. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BOW Minutes Cont'd July 19, 2001 Page 2 AGREEMENT A. Henry requested a change of the general liability insurance carrier from St. Paul's Insurance to Ace Insurance. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BID AWARDS A. Goodwin read a letter from Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Nicholson recommending the bid for a new HVAC system at Fire Station #2 be awarded to Lowman Metal Shop for$6,246. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CHANGE ORDER A. City Engineer Bob Wiwi presented change order#1 on Phase Four of the Parking Garage saying that during the construction work, they accidentally hit electrical conduit and it will cost an additional $7,000 for repairs bringing the new total to $303,984. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. SALE OF POLICE GARAGE A. Rabe explained the next procedure for the sale of the police garage is to obtain a joint appraisal. Bidders would submit a proposal within a month and what they intend to use the garage for. He is asking this board to authorize Bob Goodwin to obtain two joint appraisals of the property. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed, and carried on a voice vote, the meeting was adjourned.
