BOX 789 Tybee Island, GA 31328 Dear Mr. Carter: Sonny Perdue Governor Kenneth C. Stewart, Jr. Director It was a pleasure to meet you when I came to your home on Friday, June 16, 2006. This letter is in reference to your concern about the two Gum Bumelia trees located in your yard. One of the trees is in close proximity to the driveway and I recommend removal of this tree. Many of the branches have declined and fallen off leaving areas where decay is beginning. Also, the tree appears to be hollow in the lower main trunk. The other Gum Bumelia does not need to be removed at this time. If the large branch over the house is a concern, this branch can be pruned or removed entirely. I have enclosed information concerning this tree species. The Gum Bumelia is a type of Buckthorn and often people will use this general name.
