AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL,
ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM
INDIANA CRIMINAL JUSTICE INSTITUTE
WHEREAS, In accordance with Indiana Code (IC) 36-1-4-10, a municipality may
execute any documents necessary to receive money from the state or
federal government or any other source, and said documents are prepared
and executed by the City executive administration, provided that the
Common Council of the City of Richmond as the legislative body of the
City approves an ordinance for the appropriation of any monies received in
accordance with IC 36-4-6-18; and
WHEREAS, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through the Indiana
Criminal Justice Institute has overtime pay grant funding available; and
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond, through the Richmond Police Department, desires
to submit a grant application to pay for officers to work with the Operation
Pull Over (OPO)Buckle Up Directive seat belt enforcement project,
outside of their current assignments; and
WHEREAS, no local match is required for this grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, as follows:
1. The City of Richmond Police Department in accordance with IC 36-1-4-10 has
submitted a grant application to the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute, Drug & Crime Control
Division, through its overtime pay program to pay for officers to work with the Operation Pull
Over (OPO)/Buckle Up Directive project, outside of their current assignments.
2. The City of Richmond Police Department is authorized to accept said grant funding in
an amount up to Thirty Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($30,000.00).
3. Said funds, if awarded to the City of Richmond, shall be appropriated to assist
with overtime pay for officers.
Passed and adopted this day of 2012 by the Common
Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana.
