Often, those adults once again need to depend on their parents for the basics of life: food, clothing and shelter as well as other benefits. There may be a health issue, substance abuse or other condition which impairs the individual's ability to reliably earn a living. Providing for an adult child can be stressful for an elderly parent both financially and emotionally. If you are one of those parents and are looking for support for your child and/or yourself call the 617- 972-6490 for information, referral, and counseling. You Could Be Eligible for Fuel Assistance through the COABHJVTY TEAMWORK FUEL ASSISTANCE PROGAM (LIBEAP) Fuel Assistance can pay part of your winter heating bills. You can rent or own your home. If your heat is included in your rent, you may also qualify. Call 617-972-6490 for more information or to apply. 0 THANK YOU! The Friends of the Watertown COA Holiday Boutique made $1,663.00. Thank you to everyone who donated items, their time, or came in to shop! LEGAL APPOINTMENTS Metro West Legal Services will be here on the third TUESDAY of each month by appointment. Please call the Senior Center at 617-972-6490. Medicare Part S QHE premiums in 2019 SNIDE PROGRAM arri'irq ohs fNaleh The Medicare Part B standard monthly - — premium for 2019 is $135.50, up $1.50 from $134 last year. For people who get Social Security benefits, this premium is deducted from their benefit checks. For 2019, there is a 2.8% increase in Social Security benefits. The good news is that most people will see most of this increase in their monthly benefit checks this year. People with high incomes will continue to pay more for Medicare Part B, between $189.60 and $460.50 per month, based on their income level. People with limited income and assets may qualify for a program that will pay their premium. Call the Senior Center at 617-972- 6490 to set up an appointment, or if you still need assistance in reviewing your coverage, call 1-800- MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227). You can also compare plans online at www.medicare.gov/find-a-plan. IN CASE IT SNOWS If Watertown public schools are cancelled for inclement weather, all Senior Center programs, and shopping bus runs, are cancelled. If school opening is delayed, the morning shopping bus run is cancelled, and Senior Center pro- grams may be cancelled at the instructor's discretion, so call before coming over. Staff members will be available during regular business hours. School cancellation information is broadcast on local cable, radio & TV. Remember, safety is your first priority.
