RE: Agenda Item — Approval of Gift Expenditures
I am pleased to inform you that the Town has received two gifts of funds to offset
expenditures related to this years "Summer Concerts Series" starting on Thursday, June 28th
Watertown Savings Bank graciously donated $1,500 and an anonymous source has graciously
donated $300. The donation from the anonymous source is in memory of
Ken Thompson, Building Inspector. The summer concert on July 5th will be dedicated in
memory of Mr. Thompson.
Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 44, Section 53A, any expenditure of gifts
of funds needs the approval of the Town Manager and Town Council.
I respectfully request the attached Resolution approving these gift expenditures be placed on
the May 22rid Town Council Agenda for your consideration.

Resolution # R — 2018 -
Resolution approving the Acceptance and Expenditure of Gifts of Funds
WHEREAS: From time to time, this community is the beneficiary of a gift donated towards improving
the quality and spirit of its inhabitants lives; and,
WHEREAS: The Town's free concerts series is in its 19th year and concerts will be held seven
Thursday evenings beginning June 28th and ending August 16th, from 6:30 PM to 8 PM, Saltonstall
Park; and,
WHEREAS: These generous donations were given to offset expenditures related to the 2018 Summer
Concert Series, where families and guests will enjoy a variety of musical performances and
refreshments; and
WHERE: Watertown Savings Bank graciously donated $1,500 and an anonymous source has
graciously donated $300. The donation from the anonymous source is in memory of Ken Thompson,
Building Inspector and the summer concert on July 51h will be dedicated in memory of Mr.
Thompson;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Town Council of the City known as the Town of
Watertown, hereby accepts and appropriates, pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 44,
Section 53A, a monetary gifts in the amount of $1,800.
