HomeMy Public PortalAboutr 99:177No. 99-177 Date of Adoption~,Y~.0~L9~9_ RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR TEA-21 GRANT IN CONNECTION WITH THE CARTERET PARK AND ADA SIDEWALK PROGRAM WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret (the "Borough") has undertaken an improvement and restoration project in connection with Carteret Park and its goal of making sidexvalks ADA compliant; and WHEREAS, it is in the opinion of the Borough that by combining the Carteret Park and ADA Sidewalk Projects the quality of life will be greatly improved due to the safe and direct pedestrian connections between the community's activity centers,, government facilities, library, businesses, schools and recreation areas within the Borough; and WHEREAS, that the combined project will promote the use of non-automotive forms of transportation in and around the Borough and will beneficially contribute to the economic recovery of the aging downtown area; and WHEREAS, the project will be ready for implementation and/or construction within two (2) years of this resolution's adoption, including all permits and approvals required prior to construction; and WHEREAS, the TEA-21 Grant provides a potential funding source for the accomplishment of these projects NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret that the Mayor and Municipal Clerk be and are hereby authorized to execute a TEA-21 Grant Application on behalf of the Borough. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a Sidewalk Program Master Plan for the Borough be developed in accordance with the priority ranking in the Borough Road Evaluation Report Adopted this 20th day of May, 1999 and certified as a true copy of the original on May 21, 1999.
