RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A ROOSEVELT AVENUE
BEAUTIFICATION PLAN AND THE EXECUTION OF A
TEA-21 GRANT APPLICATION
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret (the "Borough") are
committed to constant improvement and beautification of the community; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret and the County of
Middlesex (the "County") believe that by beautifying and improving the business
district of the Borough with enhanced sidewalks, curbing, lighting and street furniture,
the quality of life in the Borough xvill be greatly improved; and
WHEREAS, the Borough and the County believe that the beautification project will
encourage the revitalization of and beneficially contribute to the economic recovery
of the aging downtown area; and
WHEREAS, the beautification project will create a sense of "place" within the
Borough and will link directly to the rest of the Borough's activity centers via the
proposed Sidewalk Project to be undertaken by the Borough; and
WHEREAS, the beautification project will be ready for implementation and/or
construction within two (2) years of the adoption of this Resolution, including all
permits and approvals required prior to construction; and
WHEREAS, the TEA-21 Grant offers an opportunity to provide financial assistance
to this worthy project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret that the beautification program for Roosevelt Avenue be
developed;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Municipal Clerk be and are
hereby authorized to execute a TEA-2I Grant Application in connection with the
Roosevelt Avenue Beautification Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be sent to the County
of Middlesex.

and certified as a true copy of the original
on May 21, 1999.
