HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-26-2000 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, OCTOBER 26, 2000 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2000, in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided with Bruce Metzger, and City Attorney Bob Bever present. Robin Henry was absent. The following business was conducted: APPROVAL OF MINUTES • Metzger moved to approve the minutes for October 19, 2000, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT There were no claims for payment. REQUESTS A. Goodwin read a letter from Captain Don Ponder recommending the approval of a Handicap Parking Sign for Verla Scott at 400 Southwest 3rd Street. Metzger moved for approval, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Goodwin read a request for a 5K Run for Girls Inc. on May 12, 2001. Metzger moved for approval, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. C. Goodwin read a letter from Ponder recommending approval for Beth Fields, Program and Special Events Coordinator for Main Street Richmond-Wayne County. She is requesting to hold the Eleventh Annual Main Street Richmond-Wayne County Holiday Parade on Saturday, November 18, 2000 beginning at 11 A.M. Metzger moved for approval, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. D. The Richmond City Police Department and the Wayne County Sheriffs Department requested the use of the City Building Rotunda area on November 18, 2000 for a "Community Gun Buy Back Program". Bever asked if the board had actually approved the Gun Buy Back Program and since they had not, he recommended that this be held over for next week. Metzger so moved, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BOW Minutes Cont'd October 26, 2000 Page 2 E. Goodwin reviewed the City Employee 2001. Holiday Schedule. He explained that because there is no election in 2001, and they would be holidays for us, we have been given Columbus Day and the day before Christmas to replace them. Metzger moved for approval, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CHANGE ORDER A. Goodwin read change order 9R for Midwest Industrial Park Railroad Crossing. The change would increase by $9,900 making the new total $2,455,250. Metzger moved for approval, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. AGREEMENT A. Goodwin presented an agreement between the City of Richmond and Polis Center/Indiana University to place 40 zoning maps on Geographical Information System overlay (GIS). Metzger moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BID AWARDS A. Goodwin read a letter from William Smith, Street Department Administrator, recommending that Studebaker Buick-GMC-Navistar, Inc. be awarded the bid for a Boom Truck, in the amount of $89,581.71. Metzger moved to approve, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. On a recommendation from Smith, the next bid was also awarded to Studebaker Buick-GMC-Navistar, Inc. for a Dump Truck in the amount of $78,773. Metzger moved to award the bid, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BID OPENING A. The following bids were opened for the demolition of city owned property on Midwest Industrial Park Ground: Mike Delucio and Son, $26,000; Potter Construction, $51,500; and Reynolds Service Tech, $32,500. These bids will be taken under advisement and awarded at a later date.
