HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-12-2000 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, OCTOBER 12, 2000 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2000, in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided with Bruce Metzger, Robin Henry and Assistant City Attorney Steve Rabe present. The following business was conducted: APPROVAL OF MINUTES Metzger moved to approve the minutes for October 5, 2000, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT There were no claims for payment. REQUESTS A. John Rich came before the board requesting banners be placed throughout the city for Globalfest 2000. This event is sponsored by Sister Cities and will be held on October 27, 28, and 29,2000 at Kuhlman Center. Metzger made a motion to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Ruth Mills, representing the Chamber of Commerce, requested a $500 mini grant to beautify the triangle at Southwest 1st Street and Hub Etichson Parkway. Henry made a motion to approve the request subject to review by Grants Administrator Tony Foster, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. C. Goodwin, in the absence of City Engineer Bob Wiwi, requested approval for a curb cut for Christ United Church at 3430 Backmeyer Road. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. D. Capt. Don Ponder received a letter from Louis Dow requesting the closing of Elm Place on October 21st 6 p.m. to October 22nd 2 a.m. for a Homecoming Party for Earlham College. Ponder recommended approval. Henry moved to approve, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. E. Ponder received a request from Marge Hutzell at 1120 South "I" Street for a reserved handicap sign and recommended approval. Metzger so moved, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BOW Minutes Cont'd October 12, 2000 Page 2 AGREEMENT A. Goodwin read a letter from Wiwi requesting professional services for Midwest Industrial Park—Wetland Mitigation for lot three. Two proposals were received; American Consulting Inc., $18,800 and J.F. New and Associates, $20,000. Wiwi recommended the proposal be awarded to American Consulting. Metzger moved to approve, subject to review by the law department, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BID OPENING A. The following bids were received for Tandem Axle and Boom Trucks: Dueco, Waukesha, Wisconsin, $94,794; MTI Insulating Products, Fort Wayne, Indiana, $91,929; Lift All, Fort Wayne, Indiana, $95,469; Altech, Indianapolis, Indiana, $97,761 and Studebaker-Buick GMC, Richmond, Indiana, $89,581.17. These bids will be taken under advisement and awarded at a later date. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed, and carried on a voice vote, the meeting was adjourned.
