HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-05-2000 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, OCTOBER 5, 2000 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2000, in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided with Bruce Metzger, Robin Henry and City Attorney.Bob Bever present. The following business was conducted: APPROVAL OF MINUTES Metzger moved to approve the minutes for September 28, 2000, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT There were no claims for payment. REQUESTS A. A request for the closure of Elm Place, for a wedding, was read and recommended for approval by Capt. Don Ponder. Henry so moved, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. B. Goodwin asked Michael Whiting Contractors to come forward and explain the "one way only" drive off of North 6th Street Between North "A" and North "B" Streets. Greg Hartman Support Specialist and Irene Callahan of Social Security spoke in favor of the drive and Lois and Carl Thomas owners of C & W Auto Sales spoke in opposition. After some discussion it was decided to bring this back to the next meeting with new prints. Henry so moved, second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a voice vote. BID AWARD A. Henry recommended to the board the hiring of Conseco Risk Management Consulting firm to review all health insurance and the adding of dental and optical coverage by January 1, 2001. Metzger so moved, second by Goodwin and the motion was carried on a voice vote. Board of Works Minutes Con'td October 5, 2000 Page 2 CONTRACT A. Chief Mike Allen asked for the approval of a contract for the new fire truck from Midwest Fire & Safety (Pierce). Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on a voice vote. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed, and carried on a voice vote, the meeting was adjourned.
