THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MAY 18, 2000
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m.
Thursday, May 18, 2000, in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Vice
Chairperson Robin Henry presided, with Bruce Metzger, and Assistant City Attorney
Steve Rabe present. Bob Goodwin, Chairperson, was absent. The following business
was conducted:
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Metzger moved to approve the minutes of the May 11, 2000 meeting second by Henry
and the motion was carried on a voice vote.
CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT
There were no claims for payment
REQUESTS
A. Captain Don Ponder said the city has received a request from Main Street's
Small Business to hold a picnic on Friday, June 9, 2000 from 9 A.M. to 4:00
p.m. They are asking to close Main between 8th and 9th Streets and Ponder
said the Traffic Division has no objections and recommended the approval.
Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was carried on
a voice vote
B. Fire Chief Allen came before the board to request the closing of the west
drive of the #1 Fire Station for the annual Firefighters Memorial Service on
May 24th beginning at 9:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. This is the 30th Anniversary
of this service honoring those firefighters who lost their lives in the line of
duty. Metzger moved to approve, second by Henry and the motion was
carried on a voice vote.
Henry recognized two Centerville High School senior students John Lee and John
Thomas and one Richmond High School Student, Matt Kimbrough who were in
attendance for a project for their government class.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed, and
carried on a unanimous voice vote, the meeting was adjourned.
