ORDINANCE NO. 2002-02
AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF TRUCKEE
ESTABLISHING AND ENFORCING LEASH LAW
AT TRUCKEE RIVER REGIONAL PARK
The Town Council of the Town of Truckee Does Ordain as Follows:
Section 1. Enactment. Section 8.01.420 (d) of the Truckee Municipal Code is hereby added to read
as follows:
(d) No person shall bring or allow any dog or other animal in any area or portion of the Truckee
River Regional Park unless such animal at all times is kept on a leash and under full control of its owner
from May I to October 31 of the year. At all other times of the year, dogs or other animals in the Truckee
River Regional Park, the boundaries of which are described in (Exhibit "A"), shall be in the immediate
presence and under the direct and effective control of the owner as set forth in Section (c) above.
Section 2. Indemnity. On or before the effective date of the ordinance, the Town Manager and the
Truckee Donner Recreation and Parks District shall enter into a written agreement, approved by the
Town Attorney, which provides in substance that the Truckee Donner Recreation and Park District shall,
at its own expense, defend, indemnify and hold the Town of Truckee, its officials, officers, employees
and agents free and harmless from any and all suits, claims, damage or injury to property or persons,
including wrongful death, in any manner arising out of or incident to any acts or omissions of the Town,
its agents or employees, in connection with the enforcement of this ordinance, including without limitation
the payment of reasonable attorneys fees incurred in any defense required.
Section 3. Summary Publication and Postinq. Within thirty (30) days after final adoption of this
Ordinance, the Town Clerk shall have a summary of the ordinance prepared by the Town Attorney and
published as required. Within fifteen (15) days after final adoption of this Ordinance, the Town Clerk
shall have it posted in the three (3) public places designated by Resolution of the Council.
The foregoing Ordinance was adopted at a Regular Meeting of the Town Council of the Town of
Truckee, held on the 21st day of February, 2002, by Councilmember Susman, who moved its
introduction, which motion was seconded by Councilmember Owens, was upon roll call carried by the
following vote:
