Minutes of Brewster Council on Aging Advisory Board Meeting
Brewster Town Hall
January 16, 2020
Present : Co - chairs Andrea Nevins and Sharon Tennstedt, Director Denise Rego, Marilyn Dearborn ( FOBE
President ) , Lisa Donovan ( COA Programs Coordinator), Bob DeLoye, Laura Usher, Frank Callahan , Steve
Holmes
Absent : Honey Pivirotto ( Fin Com Liaison ), Susan Broderick (Assistant Town Administrator), Cindy
Bingham ( SB Liaison )
Meeting called to order by Sharon Te nnstedt at 1 : 00pm , noting that this session would be televised .
Documents and exhibits : Agenda , Director' s report, Minutes of November 21, 2019 , Health Education
Workshops 2020, FY2019 Report of the Council on Aging Draft, Action Plan Implementation FY20,
FY2019 Program Events etc . , FY20- 21 Select Board Strategic Plan, Town of Brewster observed Holidays

Minutes of December 19, 2019 approved
FY20 ACTION PLAN :
Denise met with Fire Chief Moran and Housing Authority regarding disaster preparation . The
Chief will put together an emergency presentation for Wells Court and the COA in March .
The next Silver Screen will be shown at the Fire Station . There will ' be no Silver Screen in
February . The March film will possibly be at the COA on the new Big Screen TV .
A Matter of Balance program will be held beginning April 8th at the COA .
- The FOBE Annual St . Patrick' s Day Event will be Tuesday March 17th at the Captains Course .
- Chris Miller of Natural Resources will give a talk on the limits of Drummer Boy Park
activities .
- Shifting Gears Program — Lisa to look into Spaulding Driving Assessment, AAA and DMV .
DIRECTORS' REPORT:
All budgets will be Level Funded next year
21 people chosen for Senior Work Off Program
Proposal for COA to be open one night a week
FEASIBILTY STUDY .
At the Select Board Meeting on January 2111, Peter Lombardi will discuss the Community
Center Feasibility Study — Denise Rego and Mike Gradone ( Recreation Committee ) were
asked to attend .
ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND COA TOURS :
Sharon mentioned that she, Andrea and Denise attended the 2 elementary school ' s tours .
Stony Brook School offers tours the 2nd Monday of every month at Sam and fpm , and the
Eddy School offers tours the same day at Siam and 12noon . Sharon encourages all to sign up
for a tour .
LIAISON REPORTS :
Marilyn added that the St . Patrick' s Day Program will include Irish dancing and a Sing-a -
Long .
- Housing Authority to give a talk on Rental Assistance March 3rd at Town Hall Meeting .
Brewster White Caps representative gave a presentation on ADA upgrades to the ballfield
behind Stony Brook School
ADA Funding Grant for town ballfields was disapproved . Recreation Committee to do
limited work on fields within current budget .
- Sharon .asked that programs coming up be reported by Lisa .
Denise mentioned Senior Games proposed by Mike Gradone with a list of game choices .
Other Business :
Bob DeLoye praised the finished 2019 Brewster COA Report . All agreed .
