HomeMy Public PortalAboutCouncil on Aging Board -- 2020-12-17 Minutes Minutes of Brewster Council on Aging Advisory Board Meeting ZOOM Meeting December 17, 2020 Present : Co-chair Andrea Nevins, Director Denise Rego, Laura Usher, Frank Callahan , Steve Holmes, Jay Greene , Cindy Bingham ( SB Liaison ) , Honey Pivirotto ( Fin Com Liaison ) , Penny Holman, Marilyn Dearborn ( FOBE President) Absent : Co -chair Sharon Tennstedt, Susan Broderick, Lisa Donovan ( COA Programs Coordinator) Meeting called to order and Governors' Orders read by Andrea Nevins at 1 : 00pm Documents and exhibits : Agenda , Minutes for November, Directors' Report, Action Plan Implementation FY21, Parks Grants Discussion Worksheet, Newsletter Deadline dates for 2021, Lisa ' s Program Updates . Minutes for November were accepted unanimously DIRECTORS' REPORT: Denise reviewed November activities The Curbside Turkey Pot Pie Day was a success with almost 100 bags distributed to seniors Poinsettias were distributed to Meals on Wheels clients as well as Wells Court Clients - Drummer Boy Park committee had a site visit . The park is being used well and the visit stirred thoughts of improvements . The Drummer Boy Committee meets next month and we will get the minutes from it . New Payroll Training has begun and the COA will start using in January - Denise met with the new VNA Town Nurse, Stephanie Lattanzio - Thirty —one people came by the COA for the Holly Jolly Curbside event On December 19th there will be a Bay Side Bright Lights event at the Eddy School from 4- 6pm Denise noted that letters to the Bayside Chatter by virtue of format needs to be restricted to one page . It was suggested that another avenue be used so people could get full multi page articles . Denise will make it happen . Denise then gave an update of Lisa' s current filming efforts relating to the Action Plan Implementation FY21 and upcoming events . Liaison Reports : Jay Green showed a Grant opportunity list and mentioned that the COA should discuss needs for Grant services Andrea felt that we should hear the consulting groups overall plan to see where the COA fits into it - The Drummer Boy Committee meets next month and we will get the minutes from it - Andrea mentioned that for Seniors, benches will be required for people to rest in the park and perhaps that can be one of the COA' s focus Honey said that the Vison Group will have other areas for Grants valuable to the town - Steve said that the Recreation Committee had sent out an ESports Survey to families who subscribe and use the Recreation Departments' services . This will help them plan FY21 activities . Honey asked the members how to better communicate COA Outreach to the Vision Group Laura suggested possible short videos and Penny mentioned signing up on the Brewster Web Site Honey mentioned that the state did not approve an extension on funding for the schools . An article appeared in the Cape Cod Times but needs to be shared more in depth with residents . How will the information and manner of voting be communicated ?
