HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-20-2000 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND,INDIANA,JANUARY 20,2000 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,Indiana,met at 5 p.m.Thursday,January 20,2000,in the Community Room in the Municipal Building. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided with Robin Henry,Bruce Metzger and Assistant City Attorney Steve Rabe present.The following business was conducted: APPROVAL OF MINUTES Henry moved to approve the minutes for the meeting of January 13,2000,second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a unanimous voice vote. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Claims for payment submitted by the City Controller's office were read by Henry who reported claims for December 1-31, 1999 as$955,700.09,from January 1— 14,2000 as$407,317.65 and today as$236,257.16. Henry moved to approve,second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a unanimous voice vote. REQUESTS A. A request for a curb cut at 526 North 18th Street was approved on a motion made by Metzger, second by Henry and carried on a unanimous voice vote. BID OPENINGS A. One bid was received for the annual maintenance of the heating and air conditioning system for FireHouse No. 1.It was for$1,937 and made by Lowman Metal Shop in Eaton,Ohio. Chairperson Goodwin said it would be reviewed by Fire Chief Mike Allen and possibly brought back at the next meeting. BID AWARDS A. City Engineer Bob Wiwi reported that he had reviewed the proposals from three consulting firms for Logo Design and Directional Signage System Design along with Amy Spears and Chairperson Goodwin.He said they had selected the proposal by Corbin Design consulting firm for the not-to-exceed cost of$66,000,plus reimbursable expenses,which are estimated to not exceed$8,300.Metzger moved to approve,second by Henry and the motion was carried on a unanimous voice vote. AGREEMENTS A. Fire Chief Allen requested the approval of the renewal of the agreement between A.R.M.S. Inc.and the Richmond Fire Department for the maintenance of department vehicles.He said the agreement is the same as last year with the exception of the addition of two services for the rescue unit.He said that did not change the not-to-exceed$12,600.Henry moved to approve,second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a unanimous voice vote. B. Assistant City Attorney Steve Rabe presented a contract to be entered into by the City and Gateway Contracting Services,explaining that it is a renewal and similar to the one entered into in the past with only a few changes.Henry explained that Gateway is a network of over 300 cardiologists in a multi-state area,which provides discounts to those who they service and guarantee price levels for certain major heart procedures. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business,on a motion duly made,seconded and passed,and carried on a unanimous voice vote,the meeting was adjourned.
