HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-23-1997 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND,INDIANA,DECEMBER 23,1997 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,Indiana,met at 5 p.m.Thursday, December 23,1997,in the Municipal Building in said City. Chairperson Bob Goodwin presided,with Bruce Metzger and Assistant City Attorney Steve Rabe in attendance. Robin Henry was absent. The following business was had to-wit: APPROVAL OF MNUTES The minutes of the December 18 meeting were approved on a motion by Metzger,second by Chairperson Goodwin and carried on a unanimous voice vote. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT There were none. REQUESTS A.Chairperson Goodwin read a letter from City Engineer Bob Wiwi stating that Milestone Contractors had completed the major work required to construct the now Main Street between Fifth and Sixth Streets.The work yet to be done,Wiwi said,includes the final surface lay of asphalt and landscaping as well as the laying of the new brick pavers.He said these items will be completed as weather permits.Wiwi recommended the street be accepted into the City's system with those exceptions. Chairperson Goodwin said he had also talked with Wiwi about including in those exceptions the street lights which are in but not hooked up and the correcting of one of the stop signs.He asked for a motion to include those two items as well as the three named by Wiwi.Metzger so moved, second by Chairperson Goodwin and the motion was carded on a unanimous voice vote. Lt.Kris Wolski of the Traffic Safety Division said the sign problem had been corrected and there was no objection to the acceptance of the street. BID AWARD A.Chairperson Goodwin read a letter from Vicki Stevens.purchasing manager,stating that of the four companies submitting bids for the carpet and installation in the purchasing division,Georgia Direct was found to be the lowest,most responsive and responsible.She recommended the bid be awarded to Georgia Direct.Metzger moved to award the bid for the carpet and installation to Georgia direct for $1,078.16,second by Chairperson Goodwin and the motion was carried on a unanimous voice vote. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business,on a motion duly made seconded and passed and carried on a unanimous voice vote,the meeting was adjourned.
