ARTICLE 8: VARIATION TO ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 674, GRANTED
BY ACTION OF THE VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD BOARD OF
TRUSTEES REGARDING 611 FORT BEGGS.
Sec. 8-57: Variation of Sign Requirements for property at
611 Fort Beggs, commonly known as Plainfield High
School.
WHEREAS, a public hearing was duly advertised and held on
the proposed variation to allow variation from Chapter 8, Article
6 of said Village of Plainfield as hereinafter set Earth; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals of the Village of
Plainfield has heretofore filed a report of its acts and doings
in the premises and its recommendations that the petition
requesting a variance for the real estate hereinafter described
from the sign setback requirements under said Chapter 8, Article
6, entitled "An Ordinance Requiring Permits for Buildings,
Structures, and Uses, Dividing the Village into Districts,
Specifying Minimum Lot Sizes, Setbacks, and Side Yards,
Regulating the Bulk of Buildings Providing for Appeals and
Imposing Penalties", be granted; and
WHEREAS, we bela.eve that the sign requirements of said
Chapter 8, Article 6, place an undue hardship upon the owner of
said real estate; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Plainfield that the petition
requesting a variance from the sign requirements of said Chapter
8, Article 6, Section 6-19 for the real estate hereinafter
described should be granted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD, WILL COUNTY, ILLINOIS, as
follows:
Sec. 8-57-1: Territory Described. That the following tract of
land described, to-wit:
THAT PART OF THE NORTHEAST QUARTER OF SECTION 16
IN TOWNSHIP 36 NORTH, RANGE 9 EAST OF THE THIRD
PRINCIPAL MERIDIAN, WILL COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AND
BEING A PART OF LOT 16 IN ASSESSOR'S SUBDIVISION
IN THE SAID NORTHEAST QUARTER OF SAID SECTION,
DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS: BEGINNING AT A POINT OF
INTERSECTION OF THE CENTER LINE OF DESPLAINES
STREET, IN THE ORIGINAL TOWN OF PLAINFIELD,
EXTENDED SOUTH, WITH THE SDUTH LINE DF THE SAID
NORTHEAST QUARTER (BEING THE SOUTH LINE DF THE
SAID LOT 16 TN SAID ASSESSOR'S SUBDIVISION),
THENCE WEST ALONG THE SOUTH LINE OF THE SAID
NORTHEAST QUARTER TO THE CENTER LINE OF JAMES
STREET, IN THE SAID TOWN OF PLAINFIELD, AS NOW
LOCATED AND TRAVELED, THENCE NORTHEASTERLY ALONG
THE SAID CENTER LINE OF SAID JAMES STREET TO A
POINT IN THE SOUTH LINE EXTENDED WEST OF
HARTONG'S SUBDIVISION OF PART OF LOT 2, IN SAID
ASSESSOR'S SUBDIVISION OF PART OF THE NORTHEAST
QUARTER OF SAID SECTION 16, THENCE EAST ALONG
THE SOUTH LINE OF SAID HARTONG'S SUBDIVISION,
AND THE NORTH LINE OF SAID LOT 16 IN SAID
ASSESSOR'S SUBDIVISION, TO A POINT IN THE CENTER
LINE OF SAID DESPLAINES STREET EXTENDED SOUTH,
THENCE SOUTH ALONG THE SAID CENTER LINE OF SAID
DESPLAINES STREET EXTENDED SOUTH TO THE POINT OF
BEGINNING; ALSO LOT 3 IN SAID ASSESSOR'S
SUBDIVISION; ALSO THAT PART OF THE SOUTHEAST
QUARTER OF SECTION 16, TOWNSHIP 36 NORTH, RANGE
9 EAST OF THE THIRD PRINCIPAL MERIDIAN,
DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS: COMMENCING AT A POINT IN
THE SOUTH LINE OF PLAZA DRIVE THAT IS 33 FEET
SOUTH OF A POINT THAT TS 500 FEET WEST OF THE
NORTHEAST CORNER OF SAID SOUTHEAST QUARTER OF
SECTION 16; THENCE WEST ALONG THE SOUTH LINE OF
PLAZA DRIVE 988 FEET; THENCE SOUTH, PARALLEL
WITH THE EAST LINE OF SAID SOUTHEAST QUARTER A
DISTANCE OF 775 FEET; THENCE EAST, PARALLEL WITH
THE NORTH LINE OF THE SOUTHEAST QUARTER, A
DISTANCE OF 988 FEET; THENCE NORTH, PARALLEL
WITH THE EAST LINE OF THE SOUTHEAST QUARTER, A
DISTANCE OF 7"75 FEET, TO THE POINT OF BEGINNING,
ALL IN PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, WILL COUNTY,
ILLINOIS.
which said tract of land a.s now subject to the sign
requirements as established in Section 6-19 of said
Chapter 8, Article 6, of the Village of Plainfield, is
hereby exempted from the requirements that limit ground
signs to 40 square feet in area and 8 feet, in height, and
is hereby granted a variance to allow for a ground sign
which shall be 10 feet, 4 inches in height and 70 square
feet in area of the sign face.
Sec. 8--57--2: If Part Invalid. The invalidity of any part or
section hereof shall not affect the validity of
the remainder hereof.
This Ord~.nance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage, approval, and publication as required by law.

This Ordinance shall be numbered as Ordinance No. 1559 .
