FROM : Tracey Hause, Acting City Mana9er/Administrative Servic~~irector By: Cathy Burroughs, Director of Parks and Recreation VI SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS-MEETING OF JANUARY 15, 2014 RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission actions from their meeting of January 15, 2014 . BACKGROUND: On January 15, 2014, the Parks and Recreation Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting. ANALYSIS: Following is a summary of actions taken at the January 15, 2014 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting: 1 . ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioner-Lopez, Rosso, Vice-Chairman Haddad, Chairman Georgi no Absent: Commissioner -None Excused: Commissioner-Fish 2. CONSENT CALENDAR The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the minutes from the Special Meeting of November 12, 2013 and th ei r Regular Meeting of December 18, 2013, and received and filed th e monthly reports for December 2013. City Council February 4, 2014 Page 2 of 2 4. NEW BUSINESS A. REQUEST FOR REMOVAL OF A HOLLY OAK (QUERCUS ILEX) TREE LOCATED AT 5349 PERSIMMON AVENUE The Commission denied the request to remove the Holly Oak tree located in the public right-of-way. The Commission approved trimming the tree away from the driveway to reduce the number of acorns dropping on the driveway. B. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMERICAN LITTLE LEAGUE (TCALL) FOR AUTHORIZATION TO ALLOW AN OUTSIDE VENDOR TO SELL ITEMS AT LIVE OAK PARK FOR THEIR 2014 OPENING CEREMONIES The Commission approved the request. 5. MATTERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS A. The Commission received and filed the Parks and Recreation Director's Report lor January 2014. CONCLUSION: The City Council is requested to receive and flile this report. FISCAL IMPACT: This item does not have an impact on the Fisc:al Year (FY) 2013-14 City Budget.
