HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-29-1997 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MAY 29, 1997 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m.Thursday, May 29, 1997, 2 in the Municipal Building in said City. President Robert Goodwin presided with Robin Henry, Bruce Metzger and 3 Assistant City Attorney Steve Rabe in attendance. The following business was had to-wit: 4 5 APPROVAL OF MINUTES 6 7 No minutes were available. 8 9 CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT 10 11 Claims for payment submitted by the City Controller's office were read by Henry who noted they totaled 12 $62,285.25 and moved to approve,second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a unanimous voice vote. 13 14 15 REQUESTS 16 17 A.President Goodwin presented to the board a request for a noise variance from Student Activites 18 Earlham College for thier annual event "Sunsplash"to be held on September 21, 1997. Captain John 19 Farmer explained this is an annual event for Earllham and they regularly ask for the noise variance. He 20 said the event ends at 7:30 p.m. and if there have been any complaints in the past,the college is more 21 than cooperative in addressing them. He added that the bands are located in the center of the campus 22 which will help dampen the noise. Since the event will be in the afternoon and early evening, Captain 23 Farmer said he had no problem recommending approval.
