AUGUST 22. 1996 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2 1996, in the Municipal Building in said City. President Robert Goodwin presided with Robin Henry, Bruce 3 Metzger and Assistant City Attorney Steve Rabe in attendance. The following business was had to-wit: 4 5 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF AUGUST 15. 1996 6 7 The minutes of the meeting of August 15, 1996 were approved on a motion by Metzger, second by Henry and 8 the motion was approved on a unanimous voice vote. 9 10 CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT 11 12 Claims from the Controller's office were read by Henry who noted that they totaled $206,575.71 and moved to 13 approve,second by Metzger and the motion was carried on a unanimous voice vote. 14 15 REQUESTS 16 17 A. Captain John Farmer of the Traffic Safety Division said he had reviewed a request for a reserved 18 residential handicapped space made by Phyllis Ponder to move the sign from 510 North 20th Street to 19 229 North 19th Street and recommended approval. Metzger so moved, second by Henry and the 20 motion was carried on a unanimous voice vote. 21 22 B. Assistant Fire Chief Jerry Purcell requested approval for the in-service use of the Richmond Fire 23 Department's fire companies in this year's Fill The Boot campaign for the weekend of August 30, 1996. 24 In answer to a question by Metzger as to how long he had been doing this, Purcell said the Firefighters 25 had been doing it for 20 years and he, personally, has been doing it for 10 years. He added that every 26 year the collections grow, noting that last year over $7,000 was collected. The locations and the 27 companies are Ravina Plaza, rescue;Gateway Mall,Truck No. 1;Walmart, Engine No. 1; Kroger Save 28 On, Engine No. 2; Richmond Square Mall, Engine No. 3; Gateway Mall, Engine No. 4; Kmart, Engine 29 No. 5; and County Market, Engine No. 6. Henry moved to approve the request, second by Metzger 30 and the motion was carried on a unanimous voice vote. 31 32 C. Police Chief Bill Shake requested approval for the re-enrollment of the evidentiary breath test 33 instrument maintenance program, explaining that this deals with the maintenance and certification of 34 the instrument used to test drunken drivers for court purposes. Rabe said the Law Department had 35 reviewed the request and recommended approval. Metzger so moved,second by Henry and the motion 36 was carried on a unanimous voice vote. 37 38 CONTRACTS 39 40 A. City Engineer Bob Wiwi presented a Change Order No.2 for the dugouts at McBride Stadium, noting 41 the total is $12,630. He explained that the work crew had encountered some rock particularly on the 42 west side and there was a need for extra footer excavation creating a need for added funding.
