HomeMy Public PortalAboutCouncil on Aging Board -- 2021-01-21 Minutes Minutes of Brewster Council on Aging Advisory Board Meeting , ZOOM Meeting P, ; January 21 , 2021 Present : Co -chair Andrea Nevins and Sharon Tennstedt, Director Denise Rego, Lisa Donovan ( COA Programs Coordinator, Susan Broderick, Frank Callahan , Steve Holmes , Jay Greene, Cindy Bingham ( SB Liaison ) , Honey Pivirotto ( Fin Com Liaison ) , Penny Holman, Marilyn Dearborn ( FORE President ) Absent : Laura Usher Meeting called to order and Governors' Orders read by Sharon Tennstedt at 1 : 00pm Documents and exhibits : Meeting Agenda , Minutes for December 17 , 2020, Programs, Coordinators Notes Minutes for December were accepted : Andrea Nevins, Denise Rego, Frank Callahan, Steve Holmes, Jay Greene, Honey Pivirotto, Penny Holman , Marilyn Dearborn Abstained : Sharon Tennstedt, Lisa Donovan DIRECTORS' REPORT : COA working on a March Food Curbside event Attended Barnstable County Health monthly meeting Compiled a list of people over 60 years of age . List is now 400 people for the Second Phase vaccine Barnstable County Health is preparing 3 test sites and vaccination program for those over 60 years of age Transportation is averaging 1 to 2 rides per week Full Time bus driver Peter Pettengill will retire February 15Y. We will not be hiring until COA reopens and we have a daily need for it i 1 j Program Coordinators' Report : Dr . Elissa Thompson will be filming a Cardiovascular presentation Brenda and Debra will present a Medicare 65 and Older February 111h, the COA will have a Curbside Heart Health event 1 i i FY21 Action Plan : Implementation will be updated for the next meeting Grant Opportunities : Jay Greene presented a summary of Grant opportunities and said that we should review and pick ones that are most helpful to the COA Andrea observed that it would be most helpful to get the full plan for Drummer Boy Park with parking and walkway layouts in order to use the grants effectively All agreed an approved plan is needed Cindy said that the Captains Course has many bench seats in memory of individuals Denise asked about benches for other walking trails in town Sharon observed that we need specific direction from the town in order to get grants for items such as benches — we need to defer for now A question on the Capital Budget for this year came up and budget plans for the COA and the Recreation Council — Denise will look into it Committee Reports : - Marilyn Dearborn stated that the FOBE had a good year and hoped to be open in January or February, but will now be closed until March 1st - Marilyn also reported that $ 1000 was given to each of the elementary schools Steve Holmes reported that the Virtual Programs and Field Trips are going well , and that a Zoom workshop will be done at February break Honey Pivirotto noted that the Nauset Regional presentation will be February 1st at 5 : 30 Cindy also mentioned the Town Charter presentation on Saturday at 10 : 00 am No New Business No Old Business Next Meeting : February 18, 2021 Adjournment : Meeting adjourned by Sharon Tennstedt at 2 : 00 pm .
