FROM: Tracey Hause, Acting City Mana~~er/Administrative Servic~fuDirector By: Cathy Burroughs, Director of Parks and Recreation lN SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS-MEETING OF FEBRUARY 19, 2014 RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission actions from their meeting of February 19,2014. BACKGROUND: On February 19, 2014, the Parks and Recreation Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting. ANALYSIS: Following is a summary of actions taken at the February 19, 2014 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting: 1. ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioner -Fish, LopHz, Rosso, Vice-Chairman Haddad, Chairman Georgine Absent: Commissioner -None Excused: Commissioner -None 2. CONSENT CALENDAR The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the minutes from their Regular Meeting of January 15, 2014 and received and filed the monthly reports for January 2014. City Council March 4, 2014 Page 2 of 3 3. NEW BUSINESS A. REVIEW OF TRANSPORTATION SERVICES AVAILABLE TO TEMPLE CITY RESIDENTS The Commission received input regarding the various transportation programs from staff and heard from residents regarding issues and concerns with the existing Dial-A-Ride program. The Commission received and filed the information recommending no changes to the program at this time. B. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR RESERVED USE OF TEMPLE CITY PARK FOR A HEALTH FAIR AND 5K RUN ON MAY 3, 2014 The Commission approved the request. C. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMERICAN YOUTH SOCCER ORGANIZATION (AYSO) FOR fiESERVED USE OF THE ATHLETIC FIELDS AT LIVE OAK PARK FOfi YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PRACTICES MARCH 1-MAY 31,2014 The Commission approved the requested subject to the following conditions: 1) Staff will assign areas of the field for AYSO's use to avoid conflicts with other approved users; and 2) Use is restricted to practices only. D. REQUEST FOR CONSIDERATION OF A FEE WAIVER FOR RESERVED USE OF THE PERFORMING ARTS PAVILION FOR THE 2014 NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER ON MAY 1, 2014 AND FOR PLACEMENT OF A BANNER IN TEMPLE CITY PARK ANNOUNCING THE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER The Commission approved the requests. 4. MATTERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS A. The Commission received and filed the Parks and Recreation Director's Report for February 2014. CONCLUSION: The City Council is requested to receive and file this report. City Council March 4, 2014 Page 3 of 3 FISCAL IMPACT: This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2013-14 City Budget.
