FEBRUARY 2, 1995 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 9 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2 1995, in the Municipal Building in said City. Chairperson Dennis Grimes presided with Earnest Jarvis and Janet 3 Hibner in attendance.The following business was had to-wit: 4 5 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JANUARY 26,1995 6 7 The minutes of the January 26, 1995 meeting were approved on a motion by Hibner, second by Jarvis and 8 carried on a unanimous voice vote. 9 10 CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT 11 12 Claims submitted by the City Controller's office totaled $94,755.02 with $78,500 being the first payment on the 13 T.I.F. District Bond. Chairperson Grimes moved to approve the claims, second by Jarvis and the motion was 14 carried on a unanimous voice vote. 15 16 REQUESTS 17 18 A. Hibner presented a request for a handicapped parking space for Fern Pawley in the 1500 block of 19 North C Street. In its review,the Traffic Safety Division found that the applicant does not have a vehicle 20 nor does anyone residing with her. However,there is a protected place where someone can pick her 21 up.On that basis, Hibner moved to deny the request,second by Jarvis and the motion was carried on a 22 unanimous voice vote. 23 24 CONTRACTS 25 26 A. Chairperson Grimes reported that of the 11 bids returned last week for the lease-purchase of the 12 27 vehicles for the Richmond Police Department, Midwest Bankers of Indianapolis had the lowest bid with 28 a 5.9896 interest rate. He moved to accept the bid, second by Jarvis and the motion was carried on a 29 unanimous voice vote. 30 31 B.Only one bid was received for the Retention Pond at Glen Miller Golf Course and that was from Mike 32 DeLucio and Sons.Chairperson Grimes moved to close the bids,second by Hibner and the motion was 33 carried on a unanimous voice vote.The bid was for$35,620.75 and found to be in order. Hibner moved 34 to take the bid under advisement, second by Jarvis and the motion was carried on a unanimous voice 35 vote. 36 37 OTHER MATTERS 38 39 A. Chairperson Grimes moved to accept the Animal Welfare League Inc. annual report for 1994 into the 40 record,second by Hibner and the motion was carried on a unanimous voice vote. 41 42 B. Barry Hughes came forward to thank the Board for its assistance in approving the route for the 43 March of Dimes Walk America set for Saturday, April 25, 1995. He noted the starting point would be at 44 7:30 a.m. at Fire House No. 1, ending around 2 p.m. He said they are requesting that companies and 45 businesses get teams together and these can consist of anywhere from two to 200 people.
