8. DISCUSSION ITEM
The Commission spent some time discussing the zoning along Burns street. In
attendance at the meeting were property owners Chris Baker, Donald "Buddy" Hudgins,
Dustin Weatherly, and David Parker. All shared stories of how these properties were
developed by their parents' generation and told us that their intention was to one day
pass them to the next generation of their families. They also told of the difficulties in
finding tenants interested in these industrial buildings if the properties are zoned Mixed
Use. A decision was made to add an additional meeting in July to discuss some
possible recommendations to City Council to rezone the street to allow for the maximum
possibilities for the City.
