The meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M. in the Richland Hills City Hall Council
chambers.
In attendance:
Councilman Larry Marrs
Councilman Don Acker
Citizen Ralph Smith
Absent:
Citizen Nelda Stroder
Citizen John Starnes
• 1. Meeting called to order with introductions of members present at 6:05 PM.
2. Review the agenda with a brief explanation of the scope of the Task Force.
3. A motion was made to table the election of a Task Force Chairperson until the
next meeting due to the absence of two citizen members. Motion carried.
There was an explanation of the uest for Information (RFI) and~a Requestlfor~CC)
concerning the issuance of a Req
Proposal (RFP). The requests were made directly to service providers and listed in
the Fort Worth Star Telegram. The purpose of the requests was to solicit
qualification statements and pricing from transportation providers to supply public
transportation services to the City of Richland Hills.

Yellow Checker proposal were passed out and discussed.
4. The estimated annual cost for transportation based on the ridership numbers
supplied by The T and the costs listed in the Go Yellow Checker Shuttle proposal was
reviewed and discussed. It was understood that the ultimate cost of a transportation
service will be dependent on the transportation route, service levels and hours of
• operation.

• A comment was made that the Federal Government is offering grants to facilitate
public transportation called "Project Freedom". The grant value is $130,000. The
City of Richland Hills has made application for the grant.
5. There was a discussion concerning the children that currently ride The T to and
from the public schools within the city limits of the City of Richland Hills. It was
acknowledged that in most recent school year that close to 50% of the student
ridership was made up of students from North Richland Hills, Haltom City and Hurst.
There was a discussion concerning how to communicate the need for sharing the cost
of student ridership with the cities surrounding the City of Richland Hills. It was
agreed that communication between the City of Richland Hills and the surrounding
cities would be left up to the City Manager and City Council at some future date.
6. It was agreed that at the conclusion of Transportation Task Force activities that
the Task Force would make a formal presentation of the findings to the entire RHCC.
The presentation will include specific recommendations for actions to be taken by the
RHCC.
7. The next meeting of the Transportation Task Force will be held at 6:00 PM in
City Hall on July 28, 2009.
8. The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 PM.
