HomeMy Public PortalAboutTask Force Minutes 08-11-2009 • MEETING MINUTES for ALTERNATE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AND TRANSPORTATION FINANCE REFORM TASK FORCE AUGUST 11, 2009 The meeting was called to order at 5:30 P.M. in the Richland Hills City Hall conference room. In attendance: Council Members: Larry Marrs and Don Acker Citizens: Ralph Smith and Nelda Stroder Absent: Citizens: John Starnes • Minutes: 1. Meeting called to order with introductions of members present at 5:30 PM. 2. The approval of the minutes of the July 28, 2009 meeting was tabled until the members had an opportunity to review. 3. Ms. Leah Schumann, Director of NETS, made a presentation as to the Task Force as to the capabilities of the American Red Cross and the Northeast Transportation Service (NETS). There was a general discussion as to the current services provided by the American Red Cross in Tarrant County. 4. Ms. Elizabeth George, Controller of Irving Holdings, Inc., made a presentation as to the capability of Irving Holdings/Go Yellow Checker Shuttle to provide MITS service for mobility impaired riders. There was a discussion concerning the transportation services currently provided in Tarrant County. • 5. There was a brief verbal report by Don Acker concerning his experience in riding the Route 41 bus from 6:00 to 10 AM on Tuesday, August 4, 2009. There was a subsequent verbal report by Larry Marrs concerning his observations following the Route 41 bus on Tuesday afternoon, August 11, 2009. 6. It was reported that there had been no response from the T concerning the request for ridership reports for the Route 41 bus and for school bus ridership that were requested by the City on July 30~'. 7. It was reported that the letters written to the BISD and the Mayor and City Council members of North Richland Hills, Hurst and Haltom City would be reviewed and approved by the Richland Hills City Council prior to mailing. (Note the letters were approved in the August 11, 2009 City Council meeting and mailed the following day.) 8. There was a brief discussion of remaining activities for the Task Force. 9. The next meeting of the Transportation Task Force will be held at 5:30 • PM in City Hall on Wednesday, August 19, 2009. lO.The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 PM. •
