CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JUNE 9, 1994
1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 1994,
2 in the Municipal Building in said City. Chairperson Earnest Jarvis presided with Dennis Grimes in attendance.
3 Jan Hibner was absent.The following business was had to-wit:

5 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF MAY 26 AND JUNE 2.1994

7 The minutes of the two previous meetings were approved on a motion by Grimes, second by Chairperson Jarvis
8 and carried on a unanimous voice vote.

10 CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT

12 Claims submitted by the City Controller's office totaled $221,150.77 most of which was for supplies and
13 contractual services. Also submitted were claims totaling $448,059.94 for payroll and payroll taxes. Grimes
14 moved to approve all of the claims, second by Chairperson Jarvis and the motion was carried on a unanimous
15 voice vote.

17 REQUESTS

19 A. A request for a handicapped parking space made by Wanda McCracken of South 12th Street was
20 approved on a motion by Chairperson Jarvis and a second by Grimes. It was carried on a unanimous
21 voice vote.

23 B. Grimes read a request made by Christopher Moody Chapman and Chuck Harrison for approval of
24 the Whitewater Vertical Challenge Biathalon set.for Sunday, September 11 consisting of a three-mile
25 run, 18-mile bicycle ride and ending with another three-mile run. He noted that the course will run from
26 Civic Hall down Abington Pike to Test Road to the Whitewater Gorge run path and back to South West
27 G Street and the bicycle ride will go to Abington and back. Grimes said the Traffic Safety Division had
28 reviewed the request and had no objections. He moved to approve the request, second by Chairperson
29 Jarvis and the motion was carried on a unanimous voice vote.

33 A. Grimes reported that the three bids received last week from Kutter Construction, Wiwi Builders and
34 Oberle & Associates for the building of the north wall for the Leland Hotel had been reviewed by
35 Purchasing Manager Vicki Stevens and City Engineer Bob Wiwi. He further reported that it was their
36 recommendation that the bid be awarded to Wiwi Builders as the lowest responsible responsive bidder
37 at $61,870. Grimes so moved, second by Chairperson Jarvis and the motion was carried on a
38 unanimous voice vote.

40 OTHER MATTERS

42 A. Fire Chief James Sticco presented Jared Rudy to the Board recommending he be hired as a
43 Probationary Firefighter. Chairperson Jarvis moved to approve the request, second by Grimes and the
44 motion was carried on a unanimous voice vote.

46 B. In another matter, Chief Sticco said the Pension Board officially approved the retirement of Wayne
47 Jackson, Fire Prevention Chief, as of June 1. Chairperson Jarvis noted that Jackson is still working for
48 the City but as an inspector in the Department of Law.

53 There being no further business, on a motion duly made seconded and passed and carried on a unanimous
54 voice vote,the meeting was adjourned.
