The Commission approved the minutes from their regular meeting of February 5,
2014.
3. NEW BUSINESS
A. APPROVAL OF WATERCOLOR DESIGNS FOR ROSEMEAD BOULEVARD
TILE MURALS
The Commission was requested to approve watercolor designs with slight
alterations to designs entitled "Festivities" and "A District of Distinguished
Schools."
Vice-Chair Ho motioned to approve the watercolor designs with the following
modifications to the design entitled "A District of Distinguished Schools": Use
of shadowing on the California Distinguished Schools logo to add depth and
perspective; and higher placement of the cheerleader's uniform strap to
resolve perceptions of body distortion.
The Commission approved watercolor designs for City Council approval 6-0;
and recommended-at Ms. Oueijan's discretion-two final modifications to the
watercolor entitled "A District of Distinguished Schools."
4. REPORTS FROM CITY STAFF
None.
5. COMMUNICATIONS
Assistant to the City Manager Haworth I Economic Development Manager updated
the Commission on the progress of Daniel Stern's two sculptures. He also
informed the Commission of the City Engineer's decision (which was supported by
the Rosemead Boulevard Improvement Project Standing Committee) to relocate
the Mr. Temple City sculpture from the west to east side of the new bus shelter to
allow for better visibility.
Assistant to the City Manager Haworth I Economic Development Manager
requested the Commission reconvene for a special meeting to approve artist Robin
Brailsford's text art concept on a day that accommodates the schedule of Paul
Spitzzeri, Assistant Director of the Workman and Temple Family Homestead
Museum.
Assistant to the City Manager Haworth I Economic Development Manager
confirmed the Fiscal Year (FY) 2013-14 Public Arts Annual Plan would soon be
presented to the City Council for consideration with assistance from Interim City
Manager Donald Penman.

Secretary Pitcher announced the Rosemead Grand Opening (GO!) Festival on
Saturday, May 10, 2014.
6. COMMISSION ITEMS SEPARATE FROM THE AGENDA
A. CHAIR LARSEN -None
B. COMMISSIONER HEPLER-Expressed concerned that bulbs in Rosemead
Project monuments are not bright enough.
Assistant to the City Manager Haworth I Economic Devleopment Manager
said the City Engineer was currently testing customized bulbs specifically
designed to light the monuments.
Commissioner Hepler also asked if lighting would be installed to illuminate
the monument's text.
Secretary Pitcher confirmed the City Engineer would be adding ground
lighting to illuminate monument text.
