Penman, Interim City Manage~ Via: Geoffrey Starns, AICP, Planning Manager By: Jennifer Venters, Planning Secretary SUBJECT: PLANNING COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF FEBRUARY 25, 2014 RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to receive and file actions of the Planning Commission from their meeting of February 25, 2014. BACKGROUND: On February 25, 2014, the Planning Commission held their regular meeting. ANALYSIS: The following is a summary of actions taken at the February 25, 2014, Planning Commission meeting: 1. ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioner -Curran, Horton, O'Leary, Vice-Chairman Leung, Chairman Cordes Absent: Commissioner -None Excused: Commissioner -None 2. CONSENT CALENDAR The Planning Commission approved the minutes from their Regu lar Meeting of January 28, 2014. City Council April 15, 2014 Page 2 of3 3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS-None 4. NEW BUSINESS A. The Planning Commission approved a request to allow a new tutoring school (Lin's Education Center) located at 5915 -5919 Cloverly Avenue. Lin's Education Center is an after school tutoring program that centers their curriculum on speech improvement and debate. The above business site is located in the West Commercial Zone in the City's Downtown Specific Plan. B. The Planning Commission approved a request to allow a Tentative Parcel Map to develop three units located at 5120 Daleview Avenue. All units include four bedrooms and range from 1368 -1543 square feet. The project meets all current Zoning Code requirements and is located in the R-2 Medium Density Zone in accordance to the City's General Plan. C. COMMUNICATIONS Youth Committee members Lin and Yong updated the Planning Commission regarding their involvement in the City's General Plan, Rosemead Boulevard Grand Opening (GO) Festival, and Youth Summit. Chairman Cordes reported that the next meeting of the SR-71 0 North Study Advisory Committee (SOAC) is scheduled for a date to be determined in May 2014. D. MATTERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS-None E. UPDATE FROM THE PLANNING MANAGER Planning Manager Starns announced that the next Planning Commission Meeting will take place on March 25, 2014. A six lot subdivision will be placed on the agenda. He updated the Planning Commission regarding the progress of the Olson Project. Lastly, he announced that that City will soon have an interim City Manager and informed them of a new Management Analyst, Juliet Mukasa starting in the Planning Division. F. ADJOURNMENT The Planning Commission meeting was adjourned at 8:06p.m. CONCLUSION: The City Council is requested to receive and file this report.
