Minutes
Monday, January 26, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 12:07 p.m.
Mr. Shaffstall was introduced as the city's new economic development specialist, and explained
the role of the city's economic development department.
In an effort to plan future activities for the advisory group, the board reviewed past projects they
had worked on including; a business directory, and a business guide.
The board expressed a desire to clarify the city's relationship with the chamber of commerce,
address the issue of vacant commercial buildings within the city, develop a long range vision for
the city which includes higher density use of property, prepared for redevelopment of existing
property, and prepare for the Loop 820 expansion.
The board expressed a strong desire to produce tangible products that can be used by both the
business community and the city council.
The board set the next board meeting for February 16th with tentative plans to review the city's
economic redevelopment plan.
A motion was made and carried to approve the minutes from the last meeting in 2008.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:15 p.m.
