A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
APPROVING THE ALLOCATION OF FUNDS UNDER THE EDWARD BYRNE
MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) FOR SUPPLEMENTAL
LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES
WHEREAS, the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG)
Program is the primary provider of federal criminal justice funding to state and
local jurisdictions; and
WHEREAS, the JAG Program provides funding to assist state and units
of local government in developing and implementing programs, activities and
technologies to prevent and control crime and improve the criminal justice
system resulting in a lasting impact for the community; and
WHEREAS, the 2013-14 JAG grant in the amount of $47,401 was
allocated to the City of Lynwood for supplemental law enforcement activities.
. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
DOES HEREBY FUND, PROCLAIM, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council approves the JAG allocation.
Section 2. That the City Council approves the Sheriffs request for the
appropriation of the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) for
supplemental law enforcement services for the following purposes:
Law Enforcement Unit' ' i I Cost
Anti-Cruising Effort and Party Car $30,401
Acct: 3801.40.235.64399
Purchase & Install Video Surveillance Camera $17,000
Acct: 3801.40.235.66015
Total $47,401
Section 3. That the City Council authorizes the City Manager to make
such appropriations as necessary to fund the services set out in Section 2 above
until full use of the funds has been made.
Section 4. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 5th day of November, 2013.
