HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-29-1992 /61 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,OCTOBER 291992 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 9 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2 1992, in the Municipal Building in said City. Vice Chairman Earnest Jarvis presided with Dennis Grimes and 3 Chairman Thomas Milligan in attendance.The following business was had to-wit: 4 5 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF OCTOBER 22,199Z 6 7 Grimes, after correcting line 32 on page 1 to read, "specializes in electrical constructions"and line 35, "scales 8 and supermarkets where you see there has been an inspection," made a motion to approve the minutes of the 9 October 22, 1992 meeting,second by Jarvis and carried by a unanimous voice vote. 10 11 CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT 12 13 Claims were submitted by the City Controller's office for$78,053.11 for supplies and other contractual services. 14 Grimes made a motion to approve the claims for payment, second by Milligan and carried by a unanimous voice 15 vote. 16 17 REQUESTS 18 19 A. Renewal of a handicapped parking request by Cleo McGunegill at 410 Richmond Avenue was read 20 by Jarvis. The Traffic Division advised that there was a garage at the rear of the property suitable for 21 parking and that the applicant did not own a car. When quieried by Traffic,she stated that she wanted 22 the parking space because she doesn't want her neighbor parking in front of her house. Milligan made 23 the motion to deny the request,second by Grimes and carried by a unanimous voice vote. 24 25 B. Jarvis read a note from Richard Francis who appeared before the Board last week to request 26 permission to hang a banner across North A Street for the Starr Christmas Open House from 27 December 1 to December 14, 1992. The Board took the request under advisement. Francis stated that 28 he has found another place to hang the banner and was withdrawing the request. 29 30 C.A request for the removal of a two-hour parking sign in the first block of North 11th Street was turned 31 over to the Traffic Division. 32 33 CONTRACTS 34 35 None 36 37 CURB CUT PETITION 38 39 Jarvis read a request by Robert L. King of 4751 South B Street for a curb cut at 177 and 179 South 48th Street. 40 The request had been approved by the Engineering Department, Traffic Division, Department of Planning and 41 the inspector in the Department of Law. Milligan made the motion to approve,second by Grimes and carried by 42 a unanimous voice vote. 43 44 OTHER MATTERS 45 46 Grimes noted that tonight is the night designated by the Board as Trick or Treat night in the City and reminded 47 ` everyone to be aware of the children on the streets. 48 49 ADJOURNMENT 50 51 There being no further business, on a motion duly made seconded and passed and carried on a unanimous 52 voice vote,the meeting was adjourned. 53 54 55 56 57 58 Earnest Jarvis,Vice Chairman 59 60 61 62 63 ATTEST: 64 Norma Carnes, Clerk 65
