A RESOLUTION EMPOWERING THE TREASURER WITH THE AUTHORITY TO WRITE OFF
DEBTS FROM THE ACCOUNTING SYSTEM FOR DELINQUENT TERMINATED UTILITY
ACCOUNTS
Whereas, the independent auditors' report for the 2001-2002 fiscal year recommended City Council
review and approve accounts to be wntten-off the accounting system prior to the action being taken; and
Whereas, it is determined that tt is not cost effective to pursue amounts of $50 or less for terminated
accounts not paid within three (3) months of the termination date (considered delinquent) either by
repeated mailings or sending to a collection agency; and
Whereas, the Treasurer should have authonty to wnte off penalties accumulated on delinquent terminated
accounts when the ongmal amount accrued at the time of termination is paid in full, and
Whereas, it is determined that for the sake of expediency the Treasurer should have the authonty to wnte
off amounts of $50 or less without City Council approval under the circumstances mentioned above,
NOW THEREFORE, WE, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF MOAB DO HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS
The Treasurer shall have the authonty to wnte off delinquent terminated utility accounts in the
amount of $50 00 or less and shall not be required to present said wnte offs to the City
Council for approval pnor to being wntten off the accounting system
This resolution shall take effect immediately upon passage
Passed and adopted by action of the governing body of the City of Moab in open session this 11th day of
March, 2003
