HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-21-1990 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, NOVEMBER 21, 1990 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session November 21, 2 1990 at the hour of 9:00 A.M. in the Municipal Building in said City. Ms. Hauptstueck presided with Mr. Smith 3 in attendance. Absent: Ms. McFarland. Media in attendance: None. The following business was had to-wit: 4 5 ACCEPT BIDS FOR PARK DEPARTMENT TRUCKS 6 7 Ms. Hauptstueck opened the bidding for two truck for the Park Department. Having received all bids, Mr. Smith 8 moved to close the bidding,seconded by Ms. Hauptstueck and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 9 10 The Proof of Publication was examined and found to be in order. Mr. Smith moved to accept and file the Proof 11 of Publication,seconded by Ms. Hauptstueck and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 12 13 Ms. Karen Wright, Purchasing Assistant,opened the following bids: 14 15 1. Tom Brookbank Chevrolet. The bid was on the proper form,signed, notarized and accompanied by 16 a certified check. The bid was for one 3/4 ton 4x4 truck at 18,289.16 and one 3/4 ton 2x4 truck at 17 13,475.02 with alternates included. 18 19 2. Studebaker Buick. The bid was on the proper form, signed, notarized and accompanied by a bid 20 bond. The bid was for one 3/4 ton 4x4 truck at 18,494.00 and one 3/4 ton 2x4 truck at 13,293.00 with 21 alternates included. 22 23 3. Tom Wood GMC. The bid was on the proper form, signed, notarized and accompanied by a bid 24 bond. The bid was for one 3/4 ton 4x4 truck at 16,229.00 and one 3/4 ton 2x4 truck at 11,772..00 with 25 alternates included. 26 27 4. Fred First Ford. The bid was on the proper form, signed, notarized and accompanied by a certified 28 check. The bid was for one 3/4 ton 4x4 truck at 19,399.00 and one 3/4 ton 2x4 truck at 14,444.00 with 29 alternates included. 30 31 Mr. Smith moved to refer the bids to Purchasing and the Park Department for evaluation and recommendation, 32 seconded by Ms. Hauptstueck and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 33 34 BIDS FOR SALE OF PROPERTY AT 838 NORTH 12TH STREET 35 36 Ms. Hauptstueck opened the bidding for the sale of property at 838 North 12th Street. Having received all bids, 37 Mr. Smith moved to close the bidding, seconded by Ms. Hauptstueck and on unanimous voice vote the motion 38 was carried. 39 40 The Proof of Publication was examined and found to be in order. Mr. Smith moved to accept and file the Proof 41 of Publication,seconded by Ms. Hauptstueck and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 42 43 Ms.Wright opened the following bid: 44 45 1. Richmond Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. The price offered was 2,500.00. 46 47 Mr. Smith moved to refer the bid on the property at 838 North 12th Street to Purchasing and Planning, 48 seconded by Ms. Hauptstueck and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 49 50 APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 15,1990 51 52 Mr. Smith moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as prepared, seconded by Ms. Hauptstueck 53 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 54 55 APPROVAL OF CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT 56 57 Mr. Smith moved to approve claims in the amount of $45,544.05, seconded by Ms. Hauptstueck and on 58 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 59 60 STREET LIGHT REQUEST 61 62 A request was received from Richmond Power& Light to place a street light on Bridge Avenue east of North 6th 63 Street. The request had been approved by the Street Light Committee. 64 65 Mr. Smith moved to approve the placement of one street light on Bridge Avenue, seconded by Ms. Hauptstueck and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Board of Works Minutes Cont'd November 21, 1990 Page 2 1 PUBLIC REQUESTS AND COMMENT 2 3 None were presented. 4 5 DEPARTMENT REQUESTS AND COMMENTS 6 7 8 9 DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION 10 11 Reduced Rate for Charter Bus 12 13 A request was presented for use by Community Church of the Cross to take persons from the housing projects 14 to the Church for Thanksgiving dinner. Mr. Fred Golfer, driver for Rose View, volunteered his time to drive the 15 bus and the Church will cover the cost of the gasoline. 16 17 Mr. Smith moved to approve the reduced rate for use of a Charter Bus, seconded by Ms. Hauptstueck and on 18 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 19 20 BOARD OF WORKS MISCELLANEOUS 21 22 Animal Shelter and Control Bids 23 24 Ms. Hauptstueck returned the bids received for the sheltering and control of animals to the agenda. She 25 indicated that the bid received from the Animal Welfare Shelter did not meet specifications since it did not have a 26 mandatory spay and neuter program and the bid from HELP for both sheltering and control was too costly to be 27 considered by the Board. Ms. Hauptstueck recommended both bids be rejected. 28 29 Mr. Smith agreed and moved to reject both bids and set December 13, 1990 as the date to receive new bids for 30 sheltering and control functions for animals, seconded by Ms. Hauptstueck and on unanimous voice vote the 31 motion was carried. 32 33 ADJOURNMENT 34 35 There being no further business, on a motion duly made,seconded and passed the meeting was adjourned. 36 37 38 39 40 Carrie N.
