SUBJECT: PLANNING COMMISSION ACTIONS-MEETING OF MAY 13,2014
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file actions of the Planning Commission
from their meeting of May 13, 2014.
BACKGROUND:
On May 13, 2014, the Planning Commission held their regular meeting.
ANALYSIS:
The following is a summary of actions taken at the May 13, 2014, Planning Commission
meeting:
1. ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioner-Curran, O'Leary, Vice-Chairman, Leung Chairman
Cordes
Absent: Commissioner -None
Excused: Commissioner-Horton
2. CONSENT CALENDAR
The Planning Commission approved the minutes from their Regular Meeting of
April 22, 2014, and a request for a time extension of a Conditional Use Permit to
allow the construction of a new dwelling unit on the properties located at 6042-6046
Kauffman Avenue.

3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS-None
4. NEW BUSINESS
A. The Planning Commission approved a request for a Conditional Use Permit
to divide a commercial office building into two units located at 5828 Temple
City Boulevard. The property is designated Temple City Boulevard
commercial by the Downtown Specific Plan in the City's General Plan.
B. The Planning Commission approved a Conditional Use Permit to allow the
establishment of a recycling collection facility at 6340 Rosemead Boulevard.
Greenspot recycling will operate (the facility is hidden from plain view of the
parking lot and street) out of an existing prefabricated facility that previously
housed wireless telecommunications equipment. The property is located in
the general commercial (C-2) zone by the City's General Plan.
C. COMMUNICATIONS-None
D. MATTERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS
Chairman Cordes reported that SR-71 0 North Study Advisory Committee
(SOAC) has requested a one year extension to write the draft for the
environmental study.
E. UPDATE FROM THE PLANNING MANAGER
Planning Manager Starns announced that plans have been approved and
grading permits have been issued for the Olson Project. The Linden Walk, a
groundbreaking event for the Olson Project will take place May 28, 2014. Lastly,
he announced that the next Planning Commission Meeting will take place on
June 10, 2014.
F. ADJOURNMENT
The Planning Commission meeting was adjourned at 8:31 p.m.

The City Council is requested to receive and file this report.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2013-14 City Budget.
