Assistant Park Superintendent, Park Gashey, informed the Board that due to the liability and danger of the
playground located below the North 9th Street Overpass, the architects for the Park Bond issue will not continue
the plans for the playground without a guardrail being installed on the overpass.

the conditions.

Mr. Barden said that he has contacted the State recently and they will now reinvestigate the overpass and make a
decision by September. Mr. Barden suggested that Mr. Bostrom also sent a letter to the State and let them know
of the dangers with the playground.

Mr.Willis asked if the City would be allowed to install the guardrail without the State's approval and Mr. Barden said
he felt the State would not be as picky about a guardrail installation, but he hated to set the precedent on the
State right of way.
