ROll CAll PRESENT: Councilmember-Sternquist, Chavez, Blum, ABSENT: Councilmember-Vizcarra, Yu AGENDA ITEM 7.A-1. ALSO PRESENT: Interim City Manager Penman, Deputy City Clerk Bonus, Administrative Services Director Hause, Public Safety and Services Manager Sahagun, and Public Safety Supervisor Ariizumi 3. PUBLIC COMMENTS -None 4. NEW BUSINESS .;- ' A. MAY 2014 LAW ENFORCEMENT SUMMARY Representatives of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reviewed the crime statistics and Sheriff's activities for the month of May, 2014. Representatives of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department answered City Council questions regarding the crime statistics and Sheriff's activities. 5. COMMUNICATIONS A. IMPACT OF BUDGETARY DECISION ON LAW ENFORCEMENT City Council and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department representatives discussed the option to replace a standard vehicle with a motor vehicle. Captain Nee stated, since the motor vehicle is not available until later in the year, he proposed that City Council should continue with the current services until the motor vehicle is available in which City Council will have the option to modify the services to include the motor vehicle in exchange for a standard vehicle. · · B. INCREASED BURGLARIES los Angeles County Sheriff's Department representatives provided an update regarding the status of increased burglaries in the City and its surroundings. C. SERVICES PROVIDED TO TEMPLE CITY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT (TCUSD) BY THE CITY AND LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFFS los Angeles County Sheriff's Department representatives provided an update regarding the service provioed to Temple City Unified School District by the City and los Angeles CountY' Sheriffs. Mayor Blum requested the •!Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department representatives provide a per'centage · breakdown of the amount of time Sheriffs are used for TCUSD. Councilmember Chavez stepped out of the meeting at 7:58a.m. and returned at 8:01 a.m. The meeting lost quorum at 7:58a.m. and gained quorum at 8:01 a.m. D. STATUS OF CURRENT AND PROPOSED SEX OFFENDER REGULATION Public Safety and Services Manager Sahagun requested direction from City Council regarding the consideration of creating regulations restricting the locations and activities of Sex Offenders residing in the City. Councilmember Sternquist requested Information regarding the Postman to be provided during the next meeting. · •. · Councilmember Chavez would .like to have updated information regarding California Highway Patrol activities within the City of Temple City. Interim City Manager Penman directed City Staff to require a City permit for all events in the City to prevent issues that may arise. 6.
